Spring Post-Exercise Recipe

If you love tender meat and great taste then this post-workout recipe is for you. This recipe must be consumed within the 30-minute 'golden half an hour' post-exercise when protein breakdown leads to better glycogen (energy) restoration in our cells. This is vital to keep our body in an anabolic state (build lean muscle tone and utalise fat).

 

  • 1 venison leg steak (190g)
  • 250g of Purple Sprouting Broccoli
  • 1 tbsp. Sesame Seeds
  • 1 handful of Walnuts

Steam broccoli for a maximum of 8 minutes on a medium heat. Fry the Venison in coconut oil for 3/4 minutes on each side on a high heat. Let it rest for 2 minutes after cooking to the let the juices rest. Add sesame seeds and walnuts to the brooli before serving. Done!

Venison

86% Protein 14% Fat

The best source of meat/poultry available when looking for the leanest protein and highest nutrition we have available to us. First of all, wild animals that have a wild diet have a much higher percentage of CLA in their meat. CLA is a fairly new ‘good fat’ called "conjugated linoleic acid" that may be a potent cancer fighter. In animal studies, very small amounts of CLA have blocked all three stages of cancer. Eating wild meat, like Venison, will help keep up the fight against these kind of diseases. Secondly, it’s very lean and is high in Riboflavin, which is an essential nutrient for the production of energy (so great for exercisers).



Purple Sprouting Broccoli 

This is amazing for optimum health. Strangely high in protein this English vegetable is essential for the replenishment of essential nutrients post-workout. Its particularly high in Vitamin C which is essential to help flush out any build up of free radicals hanging around after your workout.

 

Walnuts

These should also be known as 'supernuts'! These nuts (that look like brains) are amazing for the health of your brain. Their packed full of omega-3 fatty acids and these can help breakdown bad cholesterol as well as help the brain function optimally. They have a very high absorption rate for free radicals and contain high levels of vitamin E; a strong antioxidant.

Not only does it increase amount of exercise completed, but having someone there to tell you to complete the exercise increases your cardiovascular fitness and mental stimulation.

The body is naturally inclined to run and thats why keeping fit makes us 'feel' alive.

A high fat diet has been found to help with weight-loss and increase the metabolism so fats are not stored. Instead they are used as our main energy source and this is all done without counting a single calorie.

Getting enough sleep is as important to losing weight as it is to eat the corrrect food and do the right exercise. So as part of my training i will require you to sleep more. I'm tough i know but it's worth it.

We now exercise is good for our physical heath. But now, just as tradition always taught us, we are beginning to understand its is very good for our mental wellbeing too.
